Creo Parametric 6.0 Tutorial

Creo Parametric 6.0 Tutorial

Autor: Roger Toogood

Número de Páginas: 407

The eleven lessons in this tutorial introduce you to the design capabilities of Creo Parametric 6.0. The tutorial covers the major concepts and frequently used commands required to advance from a novice to an intermediate user level. Major topics include part and assembly creation, and creation of engineering drawings. Also illustrated are the major functions that make Creo Parametric a parametric solid modeler. Although the commands are presented in a click-by-click manner, an effort has been made, in addition to showing/illustrating the command usage, to explain why certain commands are being used and the relation of feature selection and construction to the overall part design philosophy. Simply knowing where commands can be found is only half the battle. As is pointed out numerous times in the text, creating useful and effective models of parts and assemblies requires advance planning and forethought. Moreover, since error recovery is an important skill, considerable time is spent exploring the created models. In fact, some errors are intentionally induced so that users will become comfortable with the “debugging” phase of model creation. At the end of each lesson is a...

Architects' Sketches

Architects' Sketches

Autor: Kendra Schank Smith

Número de Páginas: 153

Concepts from architects’ minds evolve through sketches and as a mode of transference are conveyed to the finished building. This book compares qualities of sketches to reveal unique approaches to the instruments of thinking in which all architects engage. It provides new insight into the relationship between architectural sketches and the process of creative manipulation. Sketches comprise a thinking mechanism, and through the qualities of ambiguity, quickness and change, they initiate a dialogue for architects. As a medium to facilitate communication, recording, discovery and evaluation, their pertinence lies in their ability to exhibit both the precise and the imprecise. Exploring four related theoretical approaches, play, memory-imagination-fantasy, caricature and the grotesque, the book shows how imprecision stimulates imagination to conceive new forms in the dialogue of architectural sketches.

Sketch-based Interfaces and Modeling

Sketch-based Interfaces and Modeling

Autor: Joaquim Jorge , Faramarz Samavati

Número de Páginas: 404

The field of sketch-based interfaces and modeling (SBIM) is concerned with developing methods and techniques to enable users to interact with a computer through sketching - a simple, yet highly expressive medium. SBIM blends concepts from computer graphics, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Recent improvements in hardware, coupled with new machine learning techniques for more accurate recognition, and more robust depth inferencing techniques for sketch-based modeling, have resulted in an explosion of both sketch-based interfaces and pen-based computing devices. Presenting the first coherent, unified overview of SBIM, this unique text/reference bridges the two complementary research areas of user interaction (sketch-based interfaces), and graphical modeling and construction (sketch-based modeling). The book discusses the state of the art of this rapidly evolving field, with contributions from an international selection of experts. Also covered are sketch-based systems that allow the user to manipulate and edit existing data - from text, images, 3D shapes, and video - as opposed to modeling from scratch. Volume 7: Short Plays & Sketches

Volume 7: Short Plays & Sketches

Autor: Vijay Padaki

Número de Páginas: 434

The principle of economy of force applies even at the stage of conceiving a play. Many good ideas can be put across on the stage in a short play or a one-act play. They need not be put on the rack and stretched to a full length script. (It is cruelty to the audience.) This is the reason so many full length plays in English in India are bright and attractive in the first half an hour and run out of steam after the intermission. Not surprisingly many movie scripts are the same. We have avoided the label 'one-act plays, preferring to call this compilation short plays. One-act plays had a historical context in the West, and served that context well. The context is different today, especially in countries like India where the 'ecosystem' of theatre performances makes its own demands on the performers. The short play has a legitimate place here. A one-act play will qualify as a short play, but not all short plays are one-act plays. And then there are the sketches. How does one define a sketch? Theatre folks have not found a satisfactory definition yet! The last sketch in this Volume, Ringaling, has no spoken word. It is done entirely with moves and sound effects - a wide variety of ring ...

Music Sketches

Music Sketches

Autor: Friedemann Sallis

Número de Páginas: 297

The term 'music sketch' relates to the vast variety of documents that are used by composers to work out a musical technique or idea and to prepare their work for performance or publication. These documents can often provide crucial insights into authorship, biography, editorial practice and musical analysis. This introduction provides students and scholars with the knowledge and skills they need to embark on research projects involving the study of composers' working documents. Presenting examples of the compositional process over a 400-year period, it includes a selection of detailed case studies on how sketches were created and the techniques that were used, such as transcription and the sorting of loose leaves. Numerous illustrations of manuscripts and autographs, many of which have never been published before, show how these vital documents can be used to better understand compositional processes.

Early Tales and Sketches, Volume 1

Early Tales and Sketches, Volume 1

Autor: Mark Twain

Número de Páginas: 814

This collection brings together for the first time more than 360 of Mark Twain's short works written between 1851, the year of his first extant sketch, and 1871, when he renounced his ties with the Buffalo Express and the Galaxy, resolving to "write but little for periodicals hereafter." In October 1871 Clemens and his family moved to Hartford, where they would live until 1891. No longer a journalist, he was about to complete his second full-length book, Roughing It. The literary apprenticeship that he had begun twenty years before in the print shops of Hannibal, and pursued in the newspaper offices of Virginia City, San Francisco, and Buffalo, had at last come to a close. The selections included in these volumes represent a generous sampling from Mark Twain's most imaginative journalism, a few set speeches, a few poems, and hundreds of tales and sketches recovered from more than fifty newspapers and journals, as well as two dozen unpublished items of various description—the main body of what can now be found of his early literary and subliterary work, though by no means everything written during those twenty years of experimentation. The selections are ordered chronologically...
