Human Resource Management in the Digital Economy: Creating Synergy between Competency Models and Information

Human Resource Management in the Digital Economy: Creating Synergy between Competency Models and Information

Autor: De Juana-espinosa, Susana

Número de Páginas: 445

Businesses worldwide are faced with major challenges related to the progressive (and many times unavoidable) incorporation of information technologies into their processes. Often, organizations don’t suitably react to the new requirements of these technologies, resulting in outdated policies, practices, and strategies. Human Resource Management in the Digital Economy: Creating Synergy between Competency Models and Information is a reference for both practitioners and academics that demonstrates how to implement e-management and competency models in companies. This book offers perspectives on the impact of integrated e-human resource policies and provides recommendations for addressing the shift from traditional human resource policies to new perspectives.

Urban Transformations in the Late Antique West: Materials, Agents, and Models

Urban Transformations in the Late Antique West: Materials, Agents, and Models

Autor: André Carneiro , Neil Christie , Pilar Diarte Blasco

Número de Páginas: 380

This volume is the fruit of a highly productive international research gathering academic and professional (field- and museum) colleagues to discuss new results and approaches, recent finds and alternative theoretical assessments of the period of transition and transformation of classical towns in Late Antiquity. Experts from an array of modern countries attended and presented to help compare and contrast critically archaeologies of diverse regions and to debate the qualities of the archaeology and the current modes of study. While a number of papers inevitably focused on evidence available for both Spain and Portugal, we were delighted to have a spread of contributions that extended the picture to other territories in the Late Roman West and Mediterranean. The emphasis was very much on the images presented by archaeology (rescue and research works, recent and past), but textual data were also brought into play by various contributors.

AK915 - MODELING T54 - T55 ES

Número de Páginas: 180

MiniArt’s first collaboration with AK-Interactive brings as a result this fantastic book backed by the quality and originality of both brands. This book covers the scale models of this iconic tank, and the new MiniArt mod-els, showing 6 extensive and amazing step-by-step articles, and numerous curi-osities of the different versions and evolutions. A book that a modeler can ́t miss even if you are not a fan of this tank. The T-54 and T-55 are a family of tanks designed in the Soviet Union, descendants of the armored vehicles used during the II WW by this ancient power. The T-55 is sibling of the T-54 which was developed from this with a series of important modifications and that saw the light in 1955. Basically, it is actually an improve-ment of the T-54 which was decided to change its name for some reason, but that retains so much of the initial design that it should have been a T-54 with its bullet corresponding to the revised version. One of the most important improvements offered by the T-54/55 with respect to the old tanks was the incorporation of the 100mm cannon that some units of the T-44 already introduced. The hull is formed by welded plates and the tower is made of...

Geometric modeling in computer

Geometric modeling in computer

Autor: Oscar Ruiz Salguero , Carlos Cadavid Moreno

Número de Páginas: 130

This book presents conventions, mathematical concepts, definitions and applications central to the geometric modeling of solids, shells and wires (engineering jargon) embedded in 3D space. Currently, software is available for geometric modeling of technical or natural scenarios. However, the models built frequently fail in supporting the subsequent engineering computing and simulations. Only after repeated iterations and re-design, the models permit engineering / science simulations. This book endows the reader with the basic mathematical concepts needed to ensure that the geometric models indeed stand the stages of physics simulation, manufacturing, etc., and rapidly applies the concepts on engineering and science geometric models.

A Model for the Linguistic Specification and the Computational Management of Man-Machine Dialogues Following Commands Issued in Spoken Natural Language

A Model for the Linguistic Specification and the Computational Management of Man-Machine Dialogues Following Commands Issued in Spoken Natural Language

Autor: Gabriela Fernàndez-dìaz

Número de Páginas: 372

This thesis dissertation, written in Spanish, presents a new model for the linguistic specification and the computational management of man-machine dialogues following commands issued in spoken natural language. Our aim is to design and implement a conversational system for the automatic telephone task scenario, namely Delfos. Voice dialing represents a current trend in research, the purpose of which is to provide functional systems for products ranging from domestic appliances such as a video or a washing machine to more sophisticated environments such as a complete house, with an interface in spoken natural language. Our system, Delfos, represents a challenge for the fields of Language Engineering and Computational Linguistics as it implies the integration of different technologies such as voice recognition, natural language processing, dialogue management, natural language generation and speech synthesis. The present work belongs to the field of Dialogue Management Systems (DMS), that is, computational systems capable of interpreting natural language. A system with these characteristics manages dialogues between people and machines trying to perform different tasks in a...

The swot analysis of the distance learning model

The swot analysis of the distance learning model

Autor: Antonio Jesús Acevedo Blanco , Miryam De La Concepción González-rabanal

Número de Páginas: 125

Do you think that higher education institutions, and the Distance Learning University (UNED) as a reference point for them, offer students of official Master's degrees the programmes they demand? Do you defend that the postgraduate education on offer meets the needs of the labour market and the expectations of students? Do you consider that the distance learning (online) model offers any advantages over face-to-face teaching, which students of official Master's programmes particularly value? Do you believe that the future of the Distance Learning University (UNED) is promising and that it will be able to meet the challenges of the VUCA environment? Do you think there are niches in the higher education market that UNED can fill better than other competing universities? These and other similar questions are addressed in this book. Based on the experts analysis whose results are confirmed by the students of official UNED Master's degrees, this work offers suggestions on the best strategies that should be taken into account when designing the vision and determining the mission of the UNED in the coming years. The authors, Miryam C. González-Rabanal and Antonio Jesús Acevedo Blanco,...

Evaluation of Translation Technology

Evaluation of Translation Technology

Autor: Walter Daelemans , Véronique Hoste

Número de Páginas: 263

This collection of scholarly articles asks the question How useful is translation technology? Pointing to the need for a widely used and reliable way to test the efficiency of language translation programs, the presenters show that commercial tools such as translation memories and translation workbenches are popular, and their developers find them useful in terms of productivity, consistency, or quality. However, these claims are rarely proven using objective comparative studies, and this group describes several new statistical approaches to more rigorous evaluation methods. -- Product Description.
