Memestética

Autor: Valentina Tanni

Art and its Responses to Changes in Society

Autor: Martin Germ , Martina Malešič , Ines Unetič

Número de Páginas: 251

Art and its Responses to Changes in Society brings together studies of young researchers dealing with the topics of decline, transformation, and rebirth from various points of view, characteristic of several different fields of the humanities and social sciences, in order to yield new insights into the analyzed subjects. The topics discussed here are diverse: on the one hand, several chapters deal with the metamorphosis of particular pictorial or architectural motifs and concepts, while on the other, studies are included that are dedicated to the analysis of the opera of individual artists, to various periods in architecture and landscape architecture, and to national and state commissions in art, as well as representations of WW2 atrocities in Yugoslavia and attempts to artistically reaffirm Christian symbolism after the end of socialism. As such, the book entails diverse scientific perceptions of art and society, from antiquity to modernity, from architecture to moving picture, from the USA to Yugoslavia, and from research on an object to observations on a concept.

Networking

Autor: Tatiana Bazzichelli

Número de Páginas: 338

Networking means to create nets of relations, where the publisher and the reader, the artist and the audience, act on the same level. The book is a first tentative reconstruction of the history of artistic networking in Italy, through an analysis of media and art projects which during the past twenty years have given way to a creative, shared and aware use of technologies, from video to computers, contributing to the creation of Italian hacker communities. The Italian network proposes a form of critical information, disseminated through independent and collective projects where the idea of freedom of expression is a central theme. In Italy, thanks to the alternative use of Internet, during the past twenty years a vast national network of people who share political, cultural and artistic views has been formed. The book describes the evolution of the Italian hacktivism and net culture from the 1980s till today. It builds a reflection on the new role of the artist and author who becomes a networker, operating in collective nets, reconnecting to Neoavant-garde practices of the 1960s (first and foremost Fluxus), but also Mail Art, Neoism and Luther Blissett. A path which began in...

A History of Italian Art in the 20th Century

Autor: Sandra Pinto

Número de Páginas: 180

The volume traces a panorama, one never before observed, of the last century of Italian art within a "global" framework, choosing, that is, the most distanced and wide-ranging perspective in order to be the most all-inclusive outside Italy and outside Europe. Furthermore, the historical line followed is also one of the first for Italian art to take account of the postmodern revolution and to follow every step of the alternating supremacies of modernity and antimodernity in the artistic research from 1900 to 2000. It is therefore shown that Italian art sometimes presents itself as homogeneous with international avant-garde and neo-avant-garde movements, sometimes as dishomogeneous, recovering a specificity drawn from its own prestigious cultural past, with foundations distinct from its historical present.

Meme del sottosuolo

Autor: Daniele Zinni
